Verdict
The POCO M6 Pro 5G is a smartphone whose importance is larger than its specification sheet suggests.
When it launched in India in 2023, its central proposition was simple: bring 5G connectivity, a 90Hz FHD+ display, a new 4nm Snapdragon platform and a 5,000mAh battery into the entry-level smartphone market without making the compromises feel excessive.
It succeeded.
The M6 Pro 5G delivers surprisingly competent everyday performance, excellent battery endurance, a large and reasonably sharp display, useful connectivity features and a primary camera that performs well in daylight. Its Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 platform is particularly well suited to everyday workloads.
But the phone is far from perfect.
The 18W charging system is slow, the secondary camera contributes little, low-light photography is limited, gaming performance is constrained by the GPU, and the MIUI software experience arrived with considerable bloatware.
There is another important issue in retrospect: the M6 Pro 5G was extremely close to the Redmi 12 5G in hardware and software. Contemporary reviews identified the two as near-identical products with differences largely concentrated in design and positioning.
That does not make the M6 Pro a bad phone. In fact, it demonstrates how effectively POCO assembled a mass-market 5G product.

The M6 Pro 5G does not look like an ultra-budget smartphone.

The 6.79-inch FHD+ LCD is one of the M6 Pro 5G’s strongest components.
Its 2460 × 1080 resolution provides substantially better sharpness than the HD+ panels common among inexpensive smartphones.
The 90Hz refresh rate further improves perceived smoothness.
Scrolling through websites, social-media feeds and menus feels noticeably more fluid than on a conventional 60Hz display.
The panel reaches approximately 550 nits peak brightness, which is adequate but no longer particularly impressive by 2026 standards.

Performance
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is the M6 Pro 5G’s defining hardware component.
Built using a 4nm process, it represented a meaningful improvement in efficiency and everyday performance for affordable smartphones.
The phone handles normal workloads comfortably:

Gaming
The M6 Pro 5G can game, but expectations should remain realistic.
